New Pages: Casting Numbers
|
There was a website that I depended on to identify engine blocks and heads using the casting numbers. That website is now offline. I did an Interenet search to find another website like that one but was unsuccessful. I did find lists of casting numbers on different forums, but each one was specific to the forums. I ended up compiling a list from many different places for my own use. I decided to create pages on this website to make public the compiled lists. I can't guarantee the accuracy of the list since I copied them from several different places on the Internet. If you find an error, let me know and I will correct it. This is a work in progress so if you don't see what you are looking for, check back later.

I have not been able to do much on the car projects lately because of physical limitations after my kidney cancer surgery. I am feeling much better and stronger now and am venturing more and more in doing things in the garage. I recently found on Craigslist an aftermarket C2 L-88 hood and bought it. I don't really have a use for it except for as garage art. I hung it on the wall next to my original '78 C3 hood. I once saw a '66 Roadster with a hood like this and thought it looked great!! Interesting how different the C2 hood is with the C3 long hood in size and weight. Maybe one day I will realize my dream of owning a Big Block '67 Vette and can use this hood as an option!!
The latest on the Bug
Due to the escalating gas prices, I am preparing the VW Bug as my daily driver. I will use the Tahoe only when I need a truck, which is most times when I go get parts for my projects. The Bugs needs a basic tune up and some body work. For the most part it is a really dependable car, just without the comforts of a modern vehicle. But the money I will save in gas will make up for the creature comforts of driving the Tahoe every day.
I added a new page showing my early cars. I don't have all of the cars I have owned since I could not find pictures of some of them. On this new page I also show a couple of cars my two brothers had owned. Check it out here: Early Cars
The latest on the Vette
(23 January 2011)
I bought an L-88 hood for the Vette from Vanacor. My wife and I drove to Des Allemands, LA to pick it up. I am very impressed with the quality of work put into making the hood. Vanacor builds each Corvette body part by hand. When I installed the hood on my Vette, I did not have to make any modifications.... it fit perfectly. The hood also has the mounting points for '73 - '82 Vettes. I highly recommend buying from Vanacor if you need Corvette body parts!!!!
Here are a couple of pics of the L-88 hood:
