The Bug went under water in Hurricane Harvey eight years ago. I built a completely new engine which turned out to be a 1776. This video shows the first time in eight years that the Bug drove on the road. The big thing for me was the transmission worked perfectly I did tear it down, cleaned it up and installed new seals and gaskets.
I finally got the Air-Cooled engine for Chalk Bug started up for the first time. The Bug went underwater during the Hurricane Harvey Flood in 2017. The exhaust system was the only thing that was on the bug during the flood. When it first starts, a lot of rust blows out. I still need to finish tuning it then install it into the Bug. Progress is slow but steady. I don't have a lot of time to work in the garage lately.
This is the Break-In run for the 1776 Aircooled for Chalk Bug. The tach on my start box is off by 500 RPM so the engine was running at 2,300 RPMs for 20 plus minutes with the occasional throttle ups.
I edited this video to show how the engine was built, then installed and Bug prepped for the Chalk Bug events and ends with the first two events.
