Several years ago I was in Idaho for a week's vacation. One morning I saw a fox go past our cabin so I grabbed my camera and took out after him in hopes of getting a picture. I saw him go into a field of tall grass, so I followed. To my surprise I walked right up to him. We both stood there, what seems like a long time but probably about 30 seconds, looking at each other about 5 feet apart. I then took this picture. It was a warm day, normal to me, but obviously hot to the fox. I was the first to walk away and when I did, he disappeared into the woods. This was one of the most memorable encounters I have had with a wild animal.
