45 years ago, today I boarded an airplane to begin a huge adventure.  All I had with me was my backpack, three changes of clothes, my camera with two lenses and 10 rolls of 35mm film.  I was 20 years old and on my way to Switzerland to a small village called Huemoz. I arrived there on Valentines Day 1979 and asked if I could become a student of L’Abri.

I lived at L’Abri until May when I boarded a train going south.  I had no idea where I was going, but I knew my first stop was in Rome.  I lived on a few dollars a day and had no plans where I would spend each night.  With my EuroRail Pass I went to Athens from Rome, then the Greek Island of Patmos for about a week. After Patmos I went back to Rome via Pompei, then to Florence for about a week.  From Florence I took a train to Venice, then Salzburg, Austria to Paris over the course of a couple of weeks.  I left Paris to make my way to London. I had a standby flight from London to home but as with the nature of standby tickets, I ended up staying in London for almost a week.

This adventure took place over 100 days and affects the way I live today.  I went on this adventure to find myself but ended up finding real Faith in God.
